THE BIRTH OF THE WEBSITE
I have always loved photography and especially photographing sunrises and sunsets. I believe God has something to say to us in this series of pictures. In this first one the sky looked so dark and ominous with the deep red and black intermingled. I entitled it “The Wrath of God.”
John 3:36 He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him. Romans 5:8-9 But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
The second photo is the same sunset about twenty minutes later. The intense gold and the bright blue sky in the background reminded me of “The Glory of God.”
Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 2nd Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
The only thing that can deliver us from the wrath of God and transform us into the glory of God is “The Cross of Christ.”
After seeing the previous sunset I began praying for a cloud formation in the shape of a cross to complete this series of pictures, but God had a special surprise in store for me.
I have gone to this location many times to photograph the sunrise. I went there in times past expecting another glorious sunrise and on many occasions I had not been disappointed. I never paid much attention to the tree and in fact I always positioned myself so the tree would not be in the picture. On this particular morning I decided to incorporate the tree into the photograph. As I positioned myself to focus on the tree I looked up, and entwined in all the other branches, I saw the cross. It was in its rightful place, because He wants His cross entwined in every branch of our lives.
When I saw the cross I was reminded once again of all He did for us: Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree. 2nd Corinthians 5:21 For He has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Isaiah 43:18-19 Remember not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
I didn’t get a cloud formation in the shape of a cross, and that’s OK, because the cross of Christ was something that took place here on earth. He showed me a tree, a simple tree that had been there all along, just waiting for me to focus on it. May our focus forever be on the Christ of the Cross.
